PLANNING PERMISSION GRANTED FOR FOR FOUR HOUSES NEXT TO A PUB IN THE GREEN BELT
Permission granted for a gated community containing three detached houses and a bungalow with access through the pub car park. The local authority agreed that the site was limited infill in the Green Belt. It was the second application on the site. The first, by a different consultant, was refused because of strong local opposition on the grounds that the use of the car park would impede the pub's business and adversely impact on an important community facility. Working closely with an architect we devised a scheme which convinced the Planning Application Committee that the scheme would not harm the pub business.
WATER MILL CONVERSION
Conversion of Grade 2 listed, derelict water mill and farm on the edge of the Peak District National Park into two houses and three holiday cottages.
Water wheel retained as well as the internal mill machinery.
Issues overcome: -
CONTEMPORARY RURAL HOUSE DESIGN
I worked extremely closely with the architects, Evans Vettori based in Matlock, who kindly agreed to my showing their successful design below. The undeveloped site lay outside a village in open countryside but we were eventually able to overcome the objection that the site was isolated and unsustainable. The contemporary design was important in persuading the Council to approve the application following over two years of negotiation and several alternative designs ranging from traditional to modern buildings. The Council eventually agreed to a design based on a modern agricultural building.
