New House in the Green Belt

Planning permission was granted on appeal for a house in the Green Belt next to the Knot Inn in Rushton Spencer after a two year battle. The application was refused on the grounds that the site was not in the village and was therefore contrary to Green Belt policy; that it harmed the setting of the Knot Inn which is a listed building, and that it would have an adverse impact on the character of the village and the surrounding countryside.

The Planning Inspector concluded that the site was in the village, was appropriate infill development and that the development would not harm the setting of the listed building nor the character of the village or the countryside.
